ABOUT
Mark Cox is a UK based guitarist and composer working in varying styles and ensembles ranging from the James Taylor Quartet to the Royal Opera House Soloists. This extensive and wide-ranging experience allows Mark to bring unparalleled expertise to every project whether performing or composing..
Mark’s early efforts at forming a band was with his bass player brother, Julian. Together, they started a Jazz/fusion quartet, which won a national award and a support slot with Jazz legend Gary Burton. From this opportunity came a Scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
After returning to London, Mark continued his studies where he graduated from the Royal Academy of Music completing a degree in commercial composition.
As a guitarist Mark has performed and recorded around the world with a wide range of artists and is currently a regular member of the James Taylor Quartet. Other artists he’s worked with include:

In addition to performing with well-known artists and his recording work, Mark has also worked extensively in the theatre. Some theatrical credits include: Bat out of Hell, The Olivier award nominated and WhatsonStage award winning musical Six, David Bowie’s Lazarus, Wicked and many more.
His influences as a composer allows Mark to work within a large range of genres and mediums bringing aspects of jazz, rock, classical, romantic and contemporary to his pieces. His experience as a jazz performer specifically, only amplifies his composition skills. While working in a genre that requires improvisation, Mark found his voice in the emotive freedom and intensity needed to perform live.
